Fueled by our belief that media literacy is an essential skill for the 21st century, we offer a range of educational programs that serve 1,000 Sonoma County students each year. From partnerships that bring media arts into public school and community classrooms to after-school programs and summer camps, we are dedicated to ensuring broad access to education and resources that empower students to become active cultural participants in their communities.
If you have any questions, or to learn more about our programs, please contact us.
According to Americans for the Arts, students with consistent access to arts education earn higher GPAs and higher standardized test scores, and experience lower dropout rates. With access to media arts experiences, students acquire critical literacies in media, technology, and digital culture. Enhanced skills in communication, creative problem-solving, collaboration, and a practice of lifelong learning also prepare students for success in college and careers.
However, youth in our community do not have broad access to these learning opportunities. In fact, of the 66,000+ K-12 public school students in Sonoma County, less than 15% have access to digital media or media arts education.
True West Film Center bridges this gap, as we also seek out opportunities to expand our programs to serve every student in Sonoma County.
