Game Makers + Movie Makers Camp

About

True West Summer Film Camps offer a range of filmmaking experiences for students ages 7-14 years old. Led by teaching artists Heather Murray, Jesus Salazar Montero, Sandro Oliva, and Pamela Kennemore, our summer camps reflect our commitment to providing media arts education to students throughout Sonoma County.

Each morning, campers dive into Minecraft modding, using MCreator (a beginner-friendly tool) to create their own custom items, blocks, biomes, and game mechanics – no prior coding experience required! Throughout the week, campers build their own working mod, gaining valuable coding skills and a deeper understanding of game design.

Afternoon sessions focus on short filmmaking, with campers exploring creative ways to bring their stories to life. Working in several different areas of the filmmaking process, campers learn essential skills about media, team work, and communication as they craft their own short movies.

Game Makers + Movie Makers Camp is offered in partnership with ConnectED.
