Community & Events Producer

True West Film Center seeks a creative, highly organized Community & Events Producer to help bring our mission to life through community-centered experiences. This position coordinates public programs, cultural convenings, partnerships, and private and special events that use cinema as a catalyst for learning, dialogue, and connection.

Position Summary

True West Film Center seeks a creative, highly organized Community & Events Producer to help bring our mission to life through community-centered experiences. This position coordinates public programs, cultural convenings, partnerships, and private and special events that use cinema as a catalyst for learning, dialogue, and connection.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, and working closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, and cross-functional staff, the Community & Events Producer transforms ideas into exceptional public experiences by coordinating logistics, managing production, cultivating community partnerships, and ensuring the successful execution of programs both on and off campus.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys producing meaningful experiences, building relationships, and managing multiple projects in a dynamic nonprofit arts environment.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Program & Partnership Coordination

  • Coordinate community engagement initiatives that use cinema to foster dialogue, learning, and civic connection.
  • Support the implementation of strategic public programs and cultural convenings developed by the Executive Director and Artistic Director.
  • Coordinate relationships with nonprofit organizations, schools, civic groups, cultural organizations, artists, filmmakers, speakers, and presenters.
  • Identify opportunities to activate the True West campus through mission-aligned partnerships, public gatherings, and community experiences.
  • Manage program calendars, presenter communications, project timelines, and production schedules.
  • Track program deliverables and support grant-funded community engagement initiatives.
  • Represent True West at community events.

Event Production & Guest Experience

  • Produce on-campus and off-campus public programs, private rentals, community events, donor experiences, festivals, and special initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Develop event timelines, production schedules, and run-of-show documents.
  • Coordinate vendors, catering, rentals, volunteers, staffing, technical needs, and event logistics.
  • Recruit, coordinate, and steward volunteers supporting programs and special events.
  • Oversee event setup, execution, breakdown, guest hospitality, and overall experience.
  • Manage event budgets and purchasing within approved parameters.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and recommend operational improvements.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Education, Development, Marketing, Cinema Operations, and Guest Services to ensure seamless execution of programs and events.
  • Support grant deliverables related to community engagement and programming.
  • Coordinate internal communications, production timelines, and project documentation across departments.
  • Serve as a collaborative resource across the organization to ensure a consistent, high-quality guest experience.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain event calendars, production files, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Prepare event summaries, attendance reports, and program evaluations.
  • Assist with budget tracking and reconciliation.
  • Support planning and implementation of departmental goals and special initiatives.
  • Maintain organized records and continuously improve systems that support efficient event and program management.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Two to four years of experience producing events, coordinating programs, community engagement, or project management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and with community partners.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as programming requires.
  • Passion for film, arts, education, and community engagement.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience producing arts, nonprofit, or cultural events.
  • Experience working with community partnerships or public engagement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with educational programming, lifelong learning, or public humanities.
  • Experience recruiting and coordinating volunteers.
  • Budget tracking and project management experience.
  • Experience working in a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

The successful Community & Events Producer will:

  • Produce exceptional public programs and events that reflect the True West mission and brand.
  • Strengthen relationships with community organizations, artists, educators, and cultural partners.
  • Successfully coordinate on-campus and off-campus engagement initiatives.
  • Support the growth of True West’s cultural convening strategy through thoughtful production and partnership.
  • Increase utilization of the campus through mission-aligned public and private events.
  • Improve planning systems, production workflows, and cross-department collaboration.
  • Deliver welcoming, mission-driven experiences that deepen community participation and audience engagement.

 

Benefits & Wages
Salary: $62,000–$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Includes eligibility for benefits and paid time off.
